Bass Fishing for Beginners... Hints, Tips and Stories

Hi! My name is Charlie, and I'm a bass fisherman from central New Jersey. I post to various message boards as "NJFishRGuy". I started seriously bass fishing in the summer of 1999, which makes me a relative novice compared to a lot of guys. I've learned a lot, but am learning more every day. So why am I wasting cyberspace with a web site? Because there was a lot of information that wasn't easy to find, or that was hard-won. And there were many things that I could never find explained anywhere, like "work it slow"; how slow? Work it how? I'm hoping to share this type of information with you here. There are also a large number of excellent resources on the web where help is only a mouse-click away. I personally preferred forums where I could post a question and get a response from a number of people. I'll share the addresses of these with you. Last, I decided to teach myself HTML programming, and what better way than to create a web site about something you love?

This site is a work-in-progress, and I am constantly changing and adding to it. I'll throw in some stories of my fishing trips for human interest and, well, because I can. Maybe the information in the stories will help you with something. Maybe they'll make you laugh. Maybe they'll give you some ideas about other places to fish. Maybe they'll make you think I'm an idiot. Hopefully, you'll find them interesting.

I also have a blog, which I don't update nearly frequently enough. click here to read my latest (and probably twisted) thoughts.

In a rare and strangely disturbing moment, my fishing buddy Bruce commented that he noticed I hadn't updated my web site lately. What was disturbing was that I thought this web site was primarily a testament to my ego, and that no one read it but me. Now that I know at least one other person reads it, I'll have to put more effort into it. Worse, his son Ryan actually found it through Google so now I have two readers to worry about. Talk about pressure!

I fished a number of tournaments in 2006. Some were buddy tournaments but there were also several NJ Federation events. Boy, tournament fishing is different! See my article on the subject under "Stories". OK, it's not really a story, but it's my web site and if I want to put it under "Stories", I can.

Finally, a word of explanation about this site. This is a free hosting site, meaning I don't pay anything to have it available for everyone to see. In exchange, there are ads that appear on the pages. I don't control them; they just show up. Sorry; I hate pop-ups as much as you do.

I hope you enjoy the site and it's of some value to you beginners. Say "hello" if you see me on the water!

Tight lines!

Charlie
